Welcome to flexico's flexicoupe project. The coupe started life as an OZE body and was imported by Strong Torque Customs in QLD. Strong Torque Customs do a lot of the hard work and prepare the body and chassis for licensing in Australia.
Over the next few months we will follow the build process of our flexicoupe, this will include all the trials and tribulations that come with a build of this nature. We will take you through the step by step process of how we prepare the body, chassis, and other parts for paint. How we set up our 6ltr fuel injected LS2 engine and 4 speed auto, set the ride height, and install our leather trim. The wheels will be supplied by Showwheels and these will be an exciting installation as the 22" rear and 18" front aluminum billets bring the coupe to life.
As I write , the flexicoupe is taking its first drive (unfortunately not under its own power) It's on a truck coming across the Nullarbor to its new home in the west. Speaking of which; the new home is being cleaned and prepped for the arrival of our new baby. This in its self is going to be a very exciting event and I for one am really looking forward to it.

THE SHED
Our flexicoupe is going to be a very cool ride. However the build is half the fun and why should we wait till the end to have all the fun! With this in mind and realizing that we will be spending some very long hours in the "shed" we have decided to build ourselves a very cool "Rod Room" to house our very cool Rod.
As you will see from these photos the shed is not real cool at the moment! It also has a water problem when it rains. Luckily for us this is not a problem, we will install our Flexifloor Ribtrax Tile. The tiles will be laid directly over the existing floor once it has been swept out. The tiles are 17mm thick and have a flow through design which will give us a clean dry floor to work on that looks as good as our car will..

4/11/2009 The work begins. Today we clear the rubbish out and sweep it out. Then while the electrician installs the lighting, we start laying the floor. As you can see from these photos the shed floor has puddles and is quite dirty (not some where you would want to be laying down under a car)
After a couple of hours our floor is laid and the lights are working; the flexicoupe is rolled into it's new home and looks a treat.
As good as this looks it not ready to be called the "Rod Room" we still need to install the Hercke cabinets and Flexiwall to the back wall.
With the Shed almost finshed work on the coupe can begein.
We start by removing all the front panels, running boards, and rear fenders. Then the mould edges are removed with a air sander and finished of with two pack filler, they are then primered. They are not finished as we will still need to ensure they fit correctly which will mean more work amd more primer
Then the job of installing our 6ltr LS6 engine. The chassis is set up for a small block Chev, we need to cut of the engine mount brackets and start from scratch. Once this is done we position our motor in the chassis
Engine mount brackets need to be cut off
To do this we pull out the motor a cut the mounts off and then reposition the motor. Now we need to fabricate a drop bar to go under the sum. This will serve two purposes, it will give us somewhere to mount our engine mounts and it will stop the engine falling out of the car if the engine mounts fail.
